Ruby on Rails is a framework for making websites. It uses the Ruby programming language to make webpages interactive, and to connect to databases to store information.
AP Physics Website
My first Ruby on Rails project for use with a class is the AP Physics Website. Students can log in to see the class schedule, download class materials, and complete online assignments, approximately one per week. I can see their responses to these assignments, and can quickly tell who has and has not completed the assignment.
Learning Ruby on Rails
I started learning Ruby on Rails in 2007, when I took a course at the Big Nerd Ranch, in Atlanta, GA. This class was paid for in large part by FELS. I plan to continue using Ruby on Rails to make interactive websites for my classes.
