I am a teacher of physics and computer science at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. I split my time between the science department, where I teach AP Physics (blocks 1 and 4) in the lecture hall, and the computer department, where I teach Introduction to Programming, (blocks 2 and 6), and Web Publishing (block 5) in the Computer Lab, room B339. I am also the Liaison for the computer department, which means that I coordinate curriculum and instruction in the department.

Physics

The AP Physics course at Lincoln Sudbury prepares students for the AP Physics C Mechanics Exam. For the past four years, the course has been taught in the Lecture Hall at LS to facilitate large classes, which have ranged from 26 to 40 students. This makes laboratory work difficult, but a number of labs have been adapted to the space, and we spread out into nearby hallways as well. One lab in particular that we have worked on for a number of years is a video lab, where students videotape the motion of objects and analyze the video to obtain information about position, velocity and acceleration. I have also created a number of video podcasts where students can see problem solving techniques applied to physics problems.

Computer Courses

I teach a number of computer courses at Lincoln Sudbury. Intro to Programming introduces students to computer programming using the RealBasic programming language, allowing cross platform windowed applications to be built by introductory students. In Web Publishing students learn to create web pages first using HTML and then using Adobe Dreamweaver. Creative Computing introduces students to a number of applications, including spreadsheets, presentations, and movie making software.
